Living and Writing on America's Left Coast

"Poetry is nearer to vital truth than history." -- Plato

Left Coast Women was founded in 2004 by partners Velina Hasu Houston, Paula Cizmar, Marianne McDonald, and Laura Shamas.  It maintains a nominating panel of distinguished theatre and other literary professionals who nominate plays and other writing for publication.

Its nominating panel also administers The Kirstie McDonald Mori Emerging Playwright Award, presented to a student writer (high school, undergraduate, or graduate) to recognize a particular creative work via publication with Murasaki Books.
